Introduction to Genetics, 2017/18, Semester 2

Tutor information is taken from the Module Catalogue

P.J. Russell " iGenetics :" (Benjamin Cummings). There now are two versions of this text, subtitled "A Molecular Approach" and "A Mendelian Approach". The content of each is identical, but the order of chapters differs. Our course structure looks at genetics from a "Mendel-first" standpoint, so the order of chapters in "A Mendelian Approach" best matches the module structure. This is an excellent text, with good additional electronic support, and is as near to being the "course text" as it is possible to be.

Other texts, available in the library, which are also very good are:

Griffiths, Miller, Suzuki, Lewontin & Gelbart " An Introduction to Genetic Analysis "

Griffiths, Gelbart, Miller & Lewontin " Modern genetic analysis "

P.J. Russell " Genetics ".

Campbell and Reece, " Biology " This text book is recommended to level 1 students in Biology and contains some useful material relating to genetic topics but is very limited in detail.
