PART 2 – KEY REGIONAL CONTEXTS, TRADITIONS AND THEMES IN A GLOBAL COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVE

In this second part of the module, which dwells upon three different regional based contexts and traditions, the chapters in Part 2 of Jonathan Fox, An introduction to religion and politics : theory and practice ISBN: 9780415676311 (hbk.) : £75.00; 0415676312 (hbk.) : £75.00; 9780415676328 (pbk.) : £22.99; 0415676320 (pbk.) : £22.99; 9780203094419 (ebk.); 0203094417 (ebk.) (2013) are useful only in terms of a very broad overview of the position of official religions in a wide range of countries, as well as state approaches to the regulation of religion and questions of religious discrimination. The global comparative perspective we take in this module places a greater emphasis on a more in-depth analysis of the dynamics of regional contexts, including political actors other than the state. We also address a wider variety of themes.
