Since graphics in 3D relies heavily on matrix computations and geometric principles, students who wish to improve their knowledge of these areas may find the following book useful (cost approximately £20):
John Vince, Mathematics for computer graphics
There are many reference texts available, which cover graphics in various levels of detail. The best-known text (Foley & van Dam) has just been updated, but is tied to Windows rather than being platform-neutral, but is an excellent reference otherwise:

The standard reference book for OpenGL is known as the "Red Book", and is indispensible in practice, but assumes knowledge of the underlying principles of computer graphics:

This text includes more details of GLSL, the OpenGL shader language, and is also commonly used:
