Tutor information is taken from the Module Catalogue

The text book required for this module is:

John Taylor, Greek to GCSE. Part 2 ISBN: 9781474255202 (paperback); 1474255205 (ISBN 978-1-47425-520-2)

(And Greek to GCSE. Part 1 ISBN: 9781474255165 (paperback) : £15.99, to be completed from where Greek beginners ended: if you did CLAS1810 Greek beginners in a previous year, you will already have this, but in case of anyone entering at Intermediate level, you will need to purchase Part 1 as well. )

You should purchase a copy of this book and bring it with you to all classes.

If you want to use a dictionary, for this level I would recommend:

(a) Robert Scott and H. G. Liddell, An Intermediate Greek-English lexicon : founded upon the seventh edition of Liddell and Scott's Greek-English lexicon. available online: http://0-www.perseus.tufts.edu.wam.leeds.ac.uk/hopper/text? doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.04.0058

(b) S. C. Woodhouse, English-Greek dictionary : a vocabulary of the Attic language ISBN: 0710023243, available online: https://www.lib.uchicago.edu/efts/Woodhouse/

Other texts which will teach the same or similar grammar and vocab to Taylor, but from different perspectives, and will therefore be helpful to your Greek development:

Frank Beetham, (2007) Learning Greek with Plato: A Beginner’s Course in Classical Greek  (Exeter: University of Exeter Press)

Betts and Henry (1993/2001) Ancient Greek (Teach yourself guides, London)

The JACT Reading Greek series, which we have available online through the library.

Darryl Palmer, (2021) Intermediate Ancient Greek (ANU press) - Available to download for free at press.anu.edu.au
