Module Reading List

The lecture notes of the course will cover all the material of the module. However, the library has several good books on set theory and model theory, which cover additional material and/or provide a different perspective on what appears in the lecture notes. The following list is a selection of the available introductory textbooks:

• Wilfrid Hodges, A shorter model theory, Cambridge University Press, 1997;  
• Keith Devlin, The joy of sets : fundamentals of contemporary set theory, 2nd edition, Springer, 1993;  
• Yannis N. Moschovakis, Notes on Set Theory, 2nd edition, Springer, 2006.  

The students who wish to study deeper and more advanced material may also take a look at the following books:

• Kenneth Kunen, Set theory : an introduction to independence proofs, North-Holland, 1980;
• Thomas Jech, Set Theory, 3rd millennium edition, Springer, 2003;
• Akihiro Kanamori, The higher infinite : large cardinals in set theory from their beginnings, Springer, 1994.
