Environmental Systems Research Institute, a commercial company, provides Arc/Info Geographic Information System software and related products. You should review these on its website to gain a better understanding of a leading world supplier of GIS.
Intergraph is a leading world supplier of GIS and has a wealth of information on its website.
Pitney Bowes Software, another commercial company, provides MapInfo software.
One of the leading European suppliers is Leica-Geosystems which is one part of the Leica-Camera and Leica-MicroSystems empire owned by a Swedish company. It produces the Erdas Imagine Image Processing and GIS application.
National Centre for Geographic Information Systems has produced a series of core lectures in GIS in 1990. They contain much relevance today.
Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) at UCL are experts in visualisation and GIS. It’s worth having a play on their site!
